Sustainable uPVC Windows and Doors

The Government recently pledged to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions to ‘net zero’, which means that Industry will have to be offset by sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

As we experience more extreme weather events taking place and heatwaves causing forest fires across the world, we at KAT are keen to ensure that we reduce our company’s carbon footprint and manufacture sustainable windows and doors.

Recycling uPVC Windows and Doors

We are actively taking steps to re-use and recycle material used at our manufacturing facility in Macclesfield, Cheshire.  This includes recycling cardboard, plastic bottles and shredded paper produced by both our manufacturing facility and our office.

Any off-cuts of uPVC profile which are no longer needed to manufacture our doors and windows are placed in a container for collection periodically. Contact KAT

Thermally efficient windows and doors

KAT manufactures uPVC Bifold Doors, Sliding Doors, Flush Casement Windows and Casement Windows and every single product is energy efficient, offering cost-effective thermal insulation with low U-Values.

Eco-Friendly windows and doors

uPVC’s long lifespan, low maintenance, and potential for high-quality reuse make it one of the most sustainable products currently available in the building and home improvement market.

One of the reasons we have chosen VEKA profile for our windows, Bifold doors and Sliding Doors is that the majority of the profile is produced from recycled uPVC. Whilst we guarantee our products for 10 years, we know that with very little maintenance, providing the doors and windows are looked after, they will last around 30-40 years before they need to be replaced.

In addition, VEKA offers to recycle frames from any system brand and turn them into uPVC pellets so that they can be used to create new profile. As the recycling process allows the same product to be recycled up to 10 times, one single window or door can effectively have a life span of up to 350 years.

Disposing of old uPVC Windows and Doors

Did you know that VEKA will arrange for a container unit to be placed outside your company premises so that you can dispose of old uPVC Windows and Doors conveniently and free of charge?  When the container is full, they will come and take it away and dispose of the old windows and doors on your behalf. If this is of interest to you, please ask our Customer Service team for more information. We are keen to help make your uPVC recycling as smooth as possible.
