When designing and building a luxurious new-build family sized home, Mr Jackson, a property developer, wanted to create a feeling of light and space throughout. With a large plot, he was also in the enviable position where he didn’t need to compromise on his plans.
Before choosing which aluminium doors to install, he decided to obtain advice from a Structural Engineer and following this consultation, the necessary structural support was put in place.
From there, Mr Jackson’s design included 4 metres of glazing to one side of the home and seven metres of glazing to the rear of the property. He consulted with Tony Yates at Harrison Windows, who was able to advise on the different glazing options available, such as Sliding Doors or Bifolding Doors.
After considering his design options, Mr Jackson settled on two sets of KAT Aluminium Bifold Doors with a corner post, so that when the Bifolding Doors are open, there are uninterrupted views from both sides.
In this configuration, the system works by connecting the corner post to one side of the four pane Bifolding Doors. The seven pane Bifolding Doors slide back smoothly as normal.
Depending on the size of the structural opening, a flexible open corner like this can be achieved with two, four or six panes on the one side and one, two or more panes on the other side. The inherent design versatility of KAT’s Bifold range making it all possible.
Besides coming up with the perfect solution to Mr. Jackson’s corner conundrum, KAT was also able to assist in completing his design vision. On the first floor, a 4 pane KAT Bifolding Door opening onto a balcony with shaped windows was also fitted by Harrison Windows.
Whatever size your home, or whatever design you’re looking for, KAT can provide Bifiold doors to your exact specification, to ensure that everything goes according to plan.
