As a privately owned company we are able to carry out sponsorship and charitable initiatives with real passion. We have 6 main partners who we are very committed to supporting.
The Rossendale Trust has been providing care and support for adults with learning disabilities for over 40 years. The trust was started in 1973 by two local to Macclesfield families who as a result of having a child born with learning difficulties, found there was a gap for the sort of care and support they required. The Trust has grown considerably over the years, assisted by the support of local families, relatives, businesses and fundraisers. The Trust provide a supported living care service, basically this is a “don’t do it for me, do it with me” style of approach. The local authority fund the base line care needs of the individuals in the Trusts care; the extras require independent fund raising.
Our brand is easily identified by our Tiger logo and for this reason and because these iconic creatures are in danger of being eradicated from the planet, we have chosen to support our charity partners the Born Free Foundation, an international and local wildlife charity working throughout the world to stop individual wild animal suffering and protect threatened species in the wild. One such animal that they work tirelessly to conserve is the endangered tiger. Please support this very worthwhile charity if you can.
Macclesfield has been inextricably linked with Silk manufacture since the early 17th Century. The town remains proud of its historic links and a Silk Museum was established in 1987 to tell the story of Silk in the UK. The museum has an invaluable collection of silk pattern books from the last two centuries and a series of well preserved Jacquard looms in the historic and amazing Paradise Mill. Well worth a visit! KAT is proud to be a Patron and supporter of this fantastic heritage project.
In September 2015, KAT began working with Youth Federation to provide a mentoring support service for young people in East Cheshire. The mentoring programme offers a range of personal and social development programmes outside the framework of the formal education environment. This helps raise the aspirations of young people and also provides an opportunity for individuals to actively engage with young adults and give something back.
The MAC Multi-Activity Centre is a community interest company, committed to improving recreational facilities for the people of Macclesfield and the wider community. The aim is to keep prices low and any profits made are re-invested to further improve the centre. The main activity is roller-skating with a café and community room available too. KAT is proud to be able to support this local venture.
Canalside’s The Thread 102.8FM is a Community Radio Station in Macclesfield, part of the Thread Network, which relies on volunteers. Volunteers have gone on to use their experience to apply for jobs in commercial radio, work for the BBC, set up their own media related businesses, apply for college and university courses, help regain confidence after time out of the work place and to gain skills and training that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to access.
